Systems Test Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; hybrid workplace.

What you will do

• Analyze and diagnose system faults involving hardware, software, and sensor data from on-road testing and simulation runs.
• Triage, categorize, and prioritize issues by severity, priority, safety impact, and performance impact with engineering, software, testing, and offshore teams.
• Identify system-failure trends and propose preventative measures to improve safety and robustness.
• Produce reports covering system issues, troubleshooting steps, root-cause analysis, quality insights, and risks for leadership.
• Define and report operational characteristics of autonomous system behavior analysis, including cost and capacity forecasting.
• Develop tools and workflows to improve the quality and quantity of triage operations while adapting to changing priorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM-related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics, preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industry.
• Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and scripting or programming languages, preferably Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to root-cause analysis.
• Passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety.

Nice to have

• Experience in a Quality Assurance or triage role for autonomous driving.
• Project management experience on programs involving cross-functional partners and offshore teams.
• Experience with change management, analytics, or simulation tools.
