Engineer II - Design (AI)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; full-time onsite role.

What you will do

• Develop neural network models for CNNs, transformers, LLMs, and RNNs in analog compute-in-memory systems.
• Model variation and mismatch across ACIM components, as well as solution power, performance, and area.
• Implement ACIM algorithms and contribute to ACIM hardware architecture development.
• Coordinate with design, technology, process, and test engineers to advance ACIM technology.
• Translate product specifications, neural network performance targets, and schedules into design requirements and plans.
• Analyze specifications, simulations, timing, power, area, integration, risks, dependencies, and technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
• 2.5–5 years of experience or research in neural network modeling for compute-in-memory or neuromorphic computing.
• Experience with neural network modeling for compute-in-memory systems.
• Knowledge of neural network architectures including MLPs, GRUs, CNNs, and sLLMs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliability, accountability, sustained contributions, effective teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, integrity, and accuracy in representing qualifications and credentials.

Nice to have

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with RISC-V architecture, validation, debugging, and testing.
• Knowledge of nonvolatile memory technologies, VLSI design flows, computer architecture, and semiconductor device physics.
• Experience with CAD and design tools including HSPICE/HSIM, Verilog, and Cadence Design Entry.
• Knowledge of Python, Tcl, C++, or SystemC.
