Senior Forward Deployment Engineer (Geospatial/AI)

Location: Hybrid, working from the Arlington, Virginia office 3 days per week; willingness to travel 30–50% to customer sites within the region. The role requires a current active TS or TS/TSI security clearance and access to export-controlled information without additional licensing.

US national base salary: $160,600–$200,800 per year, plus possible discretionary short-term and long-term incentives, bonus, and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the full development lifecycle from discovery and decomposition through design, implementation, and deployment of bespoke customer solutions.
• Build robust full-stack software spanning front-end, back-end, data integration, AWS or other cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Work directly with strategic customers to understand operational challenges and translate them into technical requirements.
• Analyze customer solutions for reusable patterns that can inform broader platform development.
• Use AI tooling and an AI-first mindset to iterate rapidly, deliver value quickly, and adapt to changing requirements.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and deliver critical customer commitments on schedule.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience in software engineering or an equivalent technical role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another relevant field.
• Current active security clearance at TS or TS/TSI level.
• Experience with geospatial software development and concepts, including tools such as Rasterio, Fiona, Shapely, OpenLayers, or GDAL.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and proficiency in Python.
• Knowledge of software engineering practices covering coding standards, code reviews, source control management, and testing methodologies.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with fast, iterative development cycles and adapting to shifting requirements.
• Willingness to travel 30–50% to customer sites within the region.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript, Java, Go, or C#.
• Experience working with defense and security customer domains.
