Accounting Manager

Location: Hybrid in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 110,000–125,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the month-end and quarter-end close, including ownership of the close calendar, reconciliation and journal-entry reviews, and cycle-time reduction.
• Supervise, coach, and develop Staff Accountants, including workload allocation, work review, and performance development.
• Act as the first-line technical resource for revenue, leases, equity, capitalization, and accruals.
• Own the balance-sheet review process and maintain the integrity of account reconciliations.
• Lead consolidated audit preparation, coordinate external audit fieldwork, and support statutory audit preparation, sample selection, and auditor responses.
• Strengthen internal controls, document accounting processes, and automate manual close activities.

Requirements

• CPA designation required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated supervision or review of others’ work and team-management experience.
• Exceptional technical depth in US GAAP, including the ability to research, document, and defend accounting positions to auditors.
• Strong problem-solving, research, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Public accounting experience is strongly preferred, including assurance experience at a national or Big Four firm, ideally followed by a move into industry or readiness to make that move.

Nice to have

• Experience with accounting software; NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Exposure to the software, SaaS, or technology sector.
