Senior Cloud Application Developer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Trenton, New Jersey, United States; must work onsite in Trenton, NJ three days per week.

Salary: $90–$100 per hour.

What you will do

• Lead AWS-native application development, establish coding standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor developers, and align solutions with DCF enterprise architecture.
• Design and build serverless applications using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless v2, and infrastructure as code.
• Lead integration reliability, legacy system modernization, security best practices, CI/CD automation, scalability, resilience, and observability initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years building AWS serverless applications in production.
• Expertise with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless v2, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing idempotency and retry patterns, integrating with systems of record, extracting legacy business rules, and leading application modernization.
• Proven technical leadership experience covering architecture, design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Trenton, NJ three days per week.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully, including predominantly sedentary computer-based work.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
• State of New Jersey or public sector experience.
• HR/HCM systems experience.
• Familiarity with MuleSoft and API-led integrations.
