Associate Producer, Dateline (Contract)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid work requiring office presence four days per week, with significant travel for bookings, productions, and trials.

Salary: USD 65,000–80,000 per year.

What you will do

• Contribute to original long-form content production, including story development.
• Conduct extensive editorial research, pre-interviews, and on-camera interviews.
• Participate in shooting, fact-checking, and editing.
• Produce short web extras under the direction of the Senior Producer.
• Coordinate with technical and operations staff and external resources.
• Travel for bookings, productions, and trials.

Requirements

• Journalism background and at least 3 years of editorial production experience for a network or cable operation.
• Proficiency in Outlook and iNews.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Willingness to work in New York.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime and weekends on short notice.
• Ability to provide a reel or portfolio of work examples; a web address may be included with the resume.

Nice to have

• Shooting experience.
• Ability to shoot breaking news and documentary-style B-roll.
• Familiarity with video editing.
• Strong journalistic writing, research, and editorial judgment.
• Strong knowledge of and interest in news and current events.
• Strong interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and effective prioritization in a dynamic environment.
