Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server)

Location: Fully remote within the United States only; candidates must be located in the EST or CST time zones.

What you will do

• Maintain complex multi-region, real-time replication models and high-availability solutions, including clustering and multi-AZ deployments.
• Design, implement, and maintain the primary SQL Server infrastructure while supporting Oracle Exadata on AWS, AWS Aurora MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Design and execute disaster recovery strategies, participate in DR exercises and automated failover testing, and maintain RPO and RTO compliance.
• Establish data retention, archiving, purging, encryption, role-based security, and unified auditing practices aligned with healthcare industry requirements.
• Lead performance tuning, query optimization, capacity management, and analysis of resource contention across high-volume transactional SaaS workloads.
• Develop database standards, operating procedures, modernization roadmaps, and Operations-as-Code automation using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines; mentor the database operations team.

Requirements

• Experience administering enterprise-wide database environments within SaaS-based ecosystems.
• Expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining SQL Server infrastructure.
• Experience supporting Oracle Exadata on AWS, AWS Aurora MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database replication, high-availability architectures, clustering, multi-AZ deployments, and distributed data consistency.
• Experience designing disaster recovery strategies, conducting failover testing, and working with RPO and RTO requirements.
• Knowledge of data retention, archiving, purging, transparent data encryption, role-based security, unified auditing, and healthcare compliance requirements.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, capacity management, and advanced database performance metrics.
• Experience with database schema and storage design, CI/CD pipelines, routine maintenance, patching, ticket escalation, Terraform, and Ansible.
