Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure & Engineering

Location: On-site in Goleta, California, United States.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year, depending on education and experience.

What you will do

• Lead on-premise infrastructure engineering projects, complex system designs, internal builds, major upgrades, and modernization efforts.
• Direct engineering standards and technical design for physical endpoints, virtual desktop infrastructure, software packaging, deployment, compatibility testing, and lifecycle planning.
• Integrate security requirements into infrastructure, endpoint, VDI, and software engineering, supporting CMMC and NIST-related assessments and remediation.
• Lead enterprise technology evaluations, proofs of concept, vendor and product reviews, recommendations, and cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Research emerging technologies and architectural approaches, identify modernization opportunities, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Lead, coach, and develop a small engineering team while coordinating with Systems, Helpdesk, PMO, Compliance, business stakeholders, and peer IT managers.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive enterprise IT experience, including substantial infrastructure engineering and architecture experience, with approximately 6–7 years of technical leadership or management experience.
• Deep technical knowledge of enterprise on-premise infrastructure, networking, virtualization and VDI, endpoint engineering, software deployment, and technology lifecycle management.
• Experience leading complex technical implementations, evaluating enterprise technologies, mentoring experienced engineers, and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
• Commitment to continuous technical learning and interest in emerging technologies, evolving engineering practices, and enterprise IT trends.
• Self-directed professional development and interest in leadership principles, management frameworks, and organizational best practices.
• Strong intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, independent judgment, and the ability to investigate complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and make well-reasoned recommendations.
• Proactive, growth-oriented leadership focused on accountability, collaboration, mentoring, and developing organizational capabilities.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, and risks clearly to technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience implementing security requirements in regulated environments and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• A bachelor’s degree in management information systems, mathematics, engineering, or another relevant concentration is required; an additional three years of directly relevant information systems experience may substitute for the degree.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, AWS GovCloud, and Microsoft 365 GCC High.
• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred where applicable.
