2027 Future Talent Program - Data, AI, and Genome Sciences, Foundation Models - Intern (AI)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; full-time for 10–12 weeks beginning in May or June 2027; no relocation; US and Puerto Rico residents only.

Salary range: $39,908–$111,111 per year.

What you will do

• Develop statistical and computational methods and pipelines for genetic and genomic datasets.
• Analyze large-scale human genetic and genomic datasets to support discovery of novel disease-risk and disease-progression targets and biomarkers.
• Perform bioinformatic analysis of bulk and single-cell sequencing data.
• Work within an integrated, interdisciplinary team to support validation efforts.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related technical field.
• Available to work full-time for 10–12 weeks beginning in May or June 2027.
• Excellent software design and development skills with strong proficiency in Python.
• Strong proficiency in modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX, with experience implementing scalable solutions for complex tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Interest in life sciences problems and disease biology, with willingness to learn from and teach others.

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning foundation models on multiple GPUs.
• Experience with biological foundation models, such as single-cell foundation models.
• Experience with biological data, such as perturb-seq.
• Publications in top-tier machine learning conferences, such as NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR.
