Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite presence is required. The role may require up to approximately 10% domestic and international travel. Work in cleanroom and laboratory environments is required, including compliance with ISO 9000/14000 standards and controlled-technology access authorization under United States regulations.

Base annual salary: $102,375–$150,000.

What you will do

• Specify, design, develop, realize, integrate, and test mechanical modules, tools, parts, and prototypes.
• Collaborate with system architects, senior engineers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop concepts and detailed CAD designs.
• Analyze requirements, maintain traceability, define verification criteria, and translate research and feasibility findings into technical recommendations and tradeoffs.
• Define specifications, high-level designs, interfaces, validation approaches, and qualification evidence for release readiness.
• Plan and track work packages, manage risks and dependencies, maintain technical documentation, and deliver work within quality, cost, safety, and schedule targets.
• Lead technically complex module areas, guide a small group of peers, and identify and mitigate safety risks while following EHS policies.

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to develop engineering concepts and solutions, make technical tradeoffs, resolve issues, and realize designs meeting functionality, performance, cost, safety, compliance, and schedule constraints.
• Ability to plan and execute verification and validation, coordinate dependencies, apply configuration management and traceability, and deliver working, testable solutions.
• Ability to interface with multidisciplinary groups, including senior leadership, and establish cooperative working relationships with coworkers and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret data, information, and technical documents; complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision, follow strict procedures, and perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads.
• Strong customer focus, professional communication, ownership, accountability, leadership, and commitment to delivering results on time.
• Ability to identify bottlenecks, drive improvements, and translate technical goals into execution plans and measurable outcomes.
• Must be able to work onsite in Wilton and meet the physical and cleanroom requirements of the position.

Nice to have

• MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
