CUO Technical L&D Lead (Insurance Underwriting)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working. The role requires the right to work in the UK. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion. Up to 20 days per year of remote work from certain locations abroad may be requested.

What you will do

• Partner with Product Leaders and Product Directors to support underwriting excellence, quality standards, and governance across multiple product lines.
• Collaborate with underwriting, wordings, and specialist teams to deliver technical support and solutions.
• Design and deliver technical learning, coaching, and knowledge-sharing initiatives for underwriters.
• Develop and maintain technical learning frameworks, programmes, content, standards, and guidelines.
• Provide technical insight on opportunities, emerging risks, market developments, and informed decision-making.
• Build relationships across the business and support collaboration, knowledge sharing, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong technical insurance expertise across multiple commercial lines, including policy wordings, coverage principles, and underwriting practices, with specialist knowledge in at least one product area.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to balance technical detail with market, customer, and business perspectives.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, influencing, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Proactive and self-motivated approach, sound judgement, independent working within delegated authority, and adaptability to changing business needs.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about market, legal, regulatory, and industry developments.
• Experience developing others through coaching, knowledge sharing, or training, with strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
