TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Aerospace/Defense): Designing, integrating, and qualifying missile electronics, avionics, power architectures, and electrical interconnect systems with an accent on ruggedized PCBAs, inertial sensor interfaces, signal integrity, and environmental qualification. Focus on developing high-reliability flight hardware, solving EMI/EMC and thermal-electrical challenges, and supporting hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight test operations.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States of America
Company
hirify.global is an employee-owned company developing aerospace and defense systems.
What you will do
Design, analyze, test, and qualify ruggedized PCB assemblies for onboard flight processing, signal conditioning, power conversion, and motor control.
Develop power supply electronics, power conditioning circuits, motor drive electronics, and high-current power stages for missile and thrust-vector-control systems.
Integrate inertial measurement units, GPS, altimeters, seeker payloads, and flight computer interfaces; design MIL-spec cable harnesses and interconnect systems.
Develop electrical interface control documents, schematics, and system wiring topologies while implementing EMI, EMC, shielding, signal-integrity, and thermal-electrical derating solutions.
Design electrical ground support equipment, test fixtures, breakout boxes, and hardware-in-the-loop test setups; troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause investigations.
Support environmental qualification, remote test range campaigns, pre-flight checkouts, and post-flight telemetry and data analysis.
Requirements
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or an M.S. with 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics design.
Hands-on experience integrating tactical- or strategic-grade IMUs, including RLG, FOG, or high-performance MEMS IMUs.
In-depth understanding of IMU electrical interfaces, clocking and synchronization protocols, dynamic-range constraints, and noise sensitivity.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA.
Hands-on experience with mixed-signal, analog, high-speed digital, and DC-DC power-conversion design.
Experience implementing MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet/UDP, CAN bus, RS-422/485, SPI, and I2C interfaces.
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-704.
Must hold an active US DoD Secret security clearance with eligibility for Top Secret/SCI.
Nice to have
Experience designing drive electronics for BLDC motors or actuators.
Experience with ordnance safety design or electronic fuzing circuits per MIL-STD-1901A.
Familiarity with RF interfaces, antennas, or telemetry transmitters.
Basic FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog, or microcontroller firmware integration experience.
