Staff Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Cambridge/Boston, MA, USA; hybrid, with three days per week in the office. Must be local to the US and live in the Cambridge/Boston area; exceptions are possible for exceptional candidates.

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity.

hirify.global is a Series A voice AI infrastructure company developing systems for gaming, fraud prevention, customer service, and oversight of AI voice agents.

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of a backend codebase under 100K lines that is growing rapidly.
• Work independently with coding agents handling implementation.
• Participate in the agentic CI/CD workflow, where one agent writes code and an adversarial agent reviews merge requests.
• Work through agent negotiations and provide final human sign-off on changes.
• Collaborate with an engineering team of about six people alongside an ML team of about eight.

Requirements

• Senior-level engineering experience with strong technical judgment.
• Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and take technical ownership without waiting for a predefined plan.
• Must live in the Cambridge/Boston area and be able to work from the office three days per week.
• Experience with a programming language suitable for the role; the position is language-agnostic.
