Principal Solutions Architect - Network

Location: US - TX - Home Office; availability to travel to customer sites up to 30% annually.

Estimated annual pay range: $150,000–$275,000, including base salary and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead architecture assessments, discovery workshops, design sessions, technical decisions, and complex customer engagements.
• Design secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable solutions across campus, branch, data center, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Develop current-state assessments, future-state architectures, transition roadmaps, reference designs, standards, and implementation strategies.
• Provide technical governance across deployment, migration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and optimization, including high-level and low-level design reviews.
• Advise customer executives, technology leaders, architects, engineers, sales teams, delivery resources, and technology partners.
• Shape Network service offerings, support presales activities, mentor consultants and engineers, and represent SHI at webinars, conferences, meetups, and customer events.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise networking, network security, architecture, engineering, consulting, or operations, including 8+ years leading the design and delivery of complex customer-facing networks or security solutions.
• Deep expertise in enterprise network and cloud architecture across Cisco and at least one additional major networking platform, such as Juniper or HPE Aruba.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud connectivity models.
• Experience designing campus, branch, data center, cloud, hybrid connectivity, WAN, SD-WAN, cloud WAN, VXLAN/EVPN, routing, switching, segmentation, high availability, resiliency, and traffic-flow solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network security architecture, data privacy, regulatory compliance, next-generation firewalls, VPNs, NAC, Zero Trust, SSE, and SASE.
• Experience leading discovery, architecture development, implementation planning, migration initiatives, technical governance, and delivery standards for complex technology engagements and transformations.
• Understanding of Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies, consulting offerings, reusable architecture assets, and standardized delivery frameworks.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, executive presentation, collaboration, and leadership skills, with expertise in at least one strategic domain such as enterprise networking, data center fabrics, SD-WAN, cloud networking, network security, or SASE.
• Bachelor’s or technical degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Industry-recognized networking, cloud, security, and enterprise architecture certifications, including Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, HPE Aruba professional/expert certifications, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, SASE/security architecture certifications, or TOGAF.
