Scientist, Clinical Services (Biotechnology Research)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States of America; onsite, hands-on laboratory work required; rotating weekend and holiday work required; 10% travel; no relocation; visa sponsorship not available.

Salary: $108,000–$170,100 per year, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Plan, design, and execute rodent in vivo pharmacokinetic, ADME, and related studies.
• Order animals and perform compound administration and dosing across all routes, with emphasis on intravenous dosing.
• Conduct clinical observations, anesthesia, perioperative monitoring, blood and tissue collection, and research animal treatment procedures under veterinary guidance.
• Manage study timelines and maintain accurate records of animal treatments, data, procedures, inventories, protocols, and reports.
• Support inspection readiness, safety, operational excellence, lean practices, efficiency, cost containment, energy conservation, and waste minimization.
• Learn procedures supporting additional in vivo studies and vivarium operations while contributing independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Biology or a related in vivo field.
• At least two years of experience in a research in vivo field.
• Passion for animal care and welfare.
• Eagerness to learn technical and scientific skills and a comprehensive understanding of the R&D process.
• Ability to follow procedures and thoroughly document data collection results.
• Ability to independently recognize technical, scientific, or study-related challenges and provide relevant input for problem solving.
• Proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Nice to have

• ALAT or AAALAS certification.
