Associate Scientist, Post Doc Fellow - Vaccine Preclinical Development - Experimental Medicine (Vaccines)

Location: West Point, Pennsylvania, United States of America; onsite; domestic relocation available; 10% travel required.

Salary: $82,000–$92,000 per year, plus potential annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Investigate the biology of latent herpesvirus reservoirs in the context of immune dysregulation and disease-associated phenotypes.
• Lead independent and collaborative research using molecular characterization, computational analysis, single-cell, and systems immunology approaches.
• Develop and implement strategies to enrich and characterize immune cells from peripheral blood.
• Perform and optimize single-cell and high-dimensional immunology assays.
• Develop computational frameworks supporting biomarker discovery and present findings at scientific meetings.
• Collaborate across immunology, virology, and translational research teams and contribute to manuscripts and publications.

Requirements

• Currently hold a PhD or receive a PhD no later than spring 2027 in Immunology, Virology, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• No more than three previous years of postdoctoral experience.
• Expertise in immunology, virology, host-pathogen biology, or a related field.
• Expertise in single-cell transcriptomics, including technologies such as Flex Apex, CITE-seq, or Spatial Transcriptomics.
• Proficiency in end-to-end computational analysis of complex biological datasets, including single-cell transcriptomic or other omics data.
• Experience with flow cytometry and a strong background in experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong publication record or evidence of productive research accomplishments.

Nice to have

• Expertise in herpesvirus biology.
• Expertise in lymphocyte responses to vaccination or infection.
• Familiarity or experience with TCR/BCR repertoire sequencing and analysis.
• Familiarity or experience with novel vaccine adjuvants or vaccine platforms.
• Familiarity with BSL2-level viral pathogens.
• Familiarity with biomarker development or translational analysis of clinical cohort datasets.
