Principal Scientist, Bacteriology Immunology (Bacterial Vaccines)

Location: On-premise in Pearl River, New York, United States. Candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States.

Annual base salary: $106,000–$176,600, plus a 15% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of complex preclinical studies evaluating early-stage bacterial vaccine candidates.
• Develop and optimize immunological, microbiological, cellular, and molecular assay platforms.
• Integrate multidimensional immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, and preclinical datasets to identify mechanisms of protection and support candidate selection.
• Provide scientific leadership on multidisciplinary vaccine teams, assess technical risks, and influence project decisions.
• Author technical reports, publications, presentations, and strategic recommendations while collaborating with internal and external scientific partners.
• Mentor junior scientists and project team members.

Requirements

• PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline, with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Independent research leadership and a strong record of scientific achievement in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, optimizing, and applying immunological assays.
• Expertise in microbial immunology and/or host-pathogen interactions, including complex preclinical research studies.
• Ability to integrate multidimensional datasets, solve technical challenges, assess risks, and communicate findings through publications, presentations, and technical reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant scientific software; experience with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of industry experience in vaccine research, infectious disease, or applied biomedical research.
• Experience with bacterial vaccine research and development, antigen discovery, immune-response characterization, and correlates of protection.
• Experience implementing emerging technologies and innovative analytical methods for vaccine research.
