Java Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands. The role requires a passport valid for US business travel under ESTA and Australia business travel under ETA/eVisitor or a visa.

What you will do

• Code, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications and automations for trading, risk management, mid-office, and strategy development teams.
• Own end-to-end product development from requirements gathering through production.
• Deliver reliable, high-performance software while balancing time to production, quality, and testability.
• Work with engineers, risk teams, traders, and internal stakeholders to gather requirements, feedback, and business details.
• Implement creative automation solutions and maintain tools supporting advanced development workflows.
• Manage trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability, and maintainability in complex systems.

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong programming skills in Java 17+.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfort working in Linux environments.
• Experience gathering business requirements, communicating with key stakeholders, and delivering solutions quickly.
• Ability to work on greenfield projects under minimal supervision and take full ownership of applications.
• Flexibility and adaptability when working with uncertainty and ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to solve problems creatively and proactively.
• Valid passport for US business trips under ESTA and Australia business trips under ETA/eVisitor or a visa.
