Senior Python Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Mostly on-site in London, United Kingdom or Amsterdam, Netherlands.

What you will do

• Build and expand batch functionality for Cboe Europe's equities exchange.
• Work with business development and sales teams to develop new exchange products and features.
• Design and build reliable, testable Python systems supporting trading operations.
• Participate in research and development projects to identify and implement promising technologies.
• Provide production support through an incident-response rota, including post-mortem analysis and follow-up actions.
• Collaborate as part of a global software development team.

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of Python.
• Commitment to writing testable and maintainable code.
• Familiarity with advanced SQL techniques.
• Strong knowledge of Linux.
• Broad basic knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Demonstrable experience implementing an AI software development life cycle, including practical experience with tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with TDD, BDD, or other testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Familiarity with event-streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Familiarity with data-pipeline platforms such as Apache Airflow.
• Familiarity with Java.
• Experience in relevant financial areas such as market data, order management, algorithmic trading, financial systems integration, or compliance.
