PHP (Symfony) Software Engineer (Cloud Hosting)

Location: Fully remote from Italy, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, or the Netherlands; applicants must provide proof of eligibility to work in the country they apply for. Relocation packages and visa sponsorship are not supported.

What you will do

• Develop backend PHP features for the European cloud and hosting platform.
• Contribute to the microservices architecture and build and maintain internal APIs using API Platform and OpenAPI specifications.
• Participate in analysis, architecture, technical decisions, and solution design with significant ownership.
• Work with Linux hosting infrastructure and build automations for services such as Managed WordPress and WooCommerce.
• Identify recurring issue patterns and turn them into automated solutions.
• Collaborate with the Platforms PHP development team and share platform knowledge across the European group.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a PHP Developer.
• Extensive working experience with the Symfony framework.
• Willingness to deepen knowledge of systems, infrastructure, and related technologies.
• Interest in developing products and services on top of an infrastructure layer.
• Ownership, proactive working style, and effective collaboration.
• Strong analytical mindset and clear, constructive communication.
• Fluent English.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the country of application.

Nice to have

• Experience with APIs, API Platform, OpenAPI, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible AWX, Git, GitLab, Atlassian tools, Linux, operating systems, servers, storage, and other infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code.
