Network Support Technician (Cisco/Palo Alto)

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Secaucus, NJ, United States; participation in after-hours, weekend, and 2nd/3rd shift rotations for 7x24 plant coverage.

Base salary: $60,750–$81,000 annually.

What you will do

• Provide first-line Layer 1 and Layer 2 network support across production floors, labs, warehouses, and server rooms.
• Troubleshoot packet loss, link drops, interface errors, incorrect VLANs, cabling, patch panels, switch ports, speed and duplex settings, transceivers, and MAC address tables.
• Collect counters, logs, and show-command output; monitor switch health using network tools.
• Install and replace switches, access points, SFP modules, patch panels, and racks.
• Log tickets through ITIL workflows, obtain change approval before modifying production systems, and escalate Layer 3, firewall, OT/PLC, and security issues.
• Support plant coverage through after-hours, weekend, and 2nd/3rd shift rotations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting enterprise or manufacturing networks at Layer 1 and Layer 2.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Ethernet switching, SNMP, and Syslog monitoring.
• Hands-on racking, stacking, and cabling experience with copper Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber.
• Ability to work on an active plant floor and follow PPE and safety rules.
• Clear written and verbal communication with floor operators and IT.
