Electronic Design Engineer (Motor Controllers)

Location: Onsite in Carrigaline, Ireland; reasonable travel, including on-site customer support, is required.

What you will do

• Design and develop analog, digital, and power electronics for servo-drive products.
• Ensure products meet performance, cost, reliability, regulatory, design-for-manufacture, and design-for-test targets.
• Contribute to the full hardware lifecycle, including requirements definition, architectural design, implementation, integration, and testing.
• Participate in project, design, and business reviews within a multisite development team.
• Deliver defined project goals and milestones within tight schedules and provide on-site customer support when required.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant electronics technologies and work in ISO 9001/AS9100D and EN9100 environments.

Requirements

• Minimum 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in electronics or electrical engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, mathematical and analytical abilities, problem identification, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-oriented and deadline-driven approach with a high degree of accountability, commitment, and responsibility.
• Ability to produce high-quality results under tight time constraints.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with senior customers, management, and team members.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the operation and control of permanent magnet synchronous motors.
• Knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies, technologies, and thermal management.
• Capability and experience in VHDL.
• Experience developing hard real-time embedded systems to defined project schedules.
• Knowledge of electronic devices and FPGA communication with devices such as A/D converters, D/A converters, and optical encoders.
• Project management experience.
