SAP Principal Systems Engineer (SAP)

Location: London or Cardiff, United Kingdom; hybrid working with attendance in the office 2 days per week.

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Contribute to the technical roadmap for systems and services within scope.
• Coordinate small and medium technical changes from requirements clarification through documentation review, technical build, testing, production deployment and post-go-live support.
• Support larger projects involving technical change, working with project management and stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and promote best-practice, achievable technical solutions.
• Work with outsourced technology partners and internal stakeholders to resolve incidents of varying severity.

Requirements

• Extensive experience and specialist knowledge of SAP Finance modules within SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, including best-practice configuration aligned with business requirements.
• Experience translating project, business, user and product requirements into effective technical and functional solutions while balancing competing priorities and ensuring solutions are designed, delivered, supported and improved.
• Strong technical expertise in SAP ECC6 and S/4HANA integrations across finance, sales, reporting and third-party platforms, using APIs, middleware, IDocs, web services and event-driven architectures.
• Deep knowledge of SAP FI/CO, Project Systems, Intercompany, Tax, Fixed Assets and Banking, with extensive integration experience across MM, BW, SD and HR.
• Recent relevant experience working within a complex SAP landscape and reviewing technical and functional documentation for SAP best practice, quality, clarity and completeness.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, including the ability to engage and influence senior business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, suppliers and delivery teams.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, lead requirements gathering, evaluate solution options and provide recommendations aligned with engineering standards and strategic objectives.
