Senior Research Associate - Investment Research Group

Location: On-site in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Base salary: $81,700–$112,300 per year, with potential variable compensation including bonuses, commissions, and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Support quantitative research, analysis, monitoring, reporting, and due diligence across equities, fixed income, and managed investment products.
• Develop and maintain analytical tools, dashboards, and reports for evaluating investment products and monitoring key characteristics.
• Build and enhance investment research datasets and data processes, including validation, quality controls, documentation, and multi-source data integration.
• Conduct quantitative analysis of performance, risk, peer groups, and other investment characteristics, and communicate findings through reports and visualizations.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve analytical and reporting processes for greater efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Partner with Investment Research and internal teams to understand analytical needs, resolve data issues, and develop practical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience in financial services, investment research, data analytics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in financial markets, investment products, and quantitative investment analysis.
• Experience working with large datasets and performing data analysis, validation, and reporting.
• Experience using analytical or data visualization tools.
• Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly through written commentary, reports, and visualizations.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, collaborate effectively, and adapt to evolving business and analytical needs.
• Active Series 7 license or ability to obtain it within 120 days.

Nice to have

• Understanding of financial markets, investment products, and asset classes across equity, fixed income, and managed investments.
• Experience with analytical and visualization platforms such as Power BI, Amazon SageMaker, or Dataiku.
• Familiarity with investment performance and risk concepts, including returns, benchmarks, peer groups, and risk statistics.
• Experience working with investment, market, or reference data from multiple sources.
• Interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation or developing deeper expertise in investment analysis.
• Curiosity about data, automation, and emerging technologies and their application to investment research.
