Senior Software Engineer - Product (AI)

Location: Ames, United States; remote work is available from any location within the country of employment, with up to 15% travel.

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, document, and maintain software solutions meeting business and technical requirements.
• Use AI tooling to accelerate development and enhance platform features.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, customers, support teams, and other stakeholders on requirements, product discovery, production issues, and product strategy.
• Write clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and deliver team- or group-level technical solutions.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, functional, and other automated tests; debug complex issues across services and applications.
• Define KPIs and metrics, communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong computer science foundation covering data structures, algorithms, object-oriented software design, and cloud-based distributed systems.
• Expertise in one or more modern programming languages or technologies such as Dart, React, TypeScript, Go, Java, and Kotlin.
• Experience debugging complex systems or applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking, adaptability, and commitment to current engineering practices.

Nice to have

• 4 or more years of professional software development experience.
• Experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers.
• Experience in an agile development environment with a focus on continuous improvement and delivery.
• Experience developing service-oriented architecture.
