Software Engineer - Cloud Volumes (AI)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; hybrid working environment with some level of in-office and/or in-person expectations.

Salary: 113,050–168,300 USD annually; final compensation depends on location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Develop and operate cloud-scale distributed systems spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and customer-facing experiences.
• Own data-plane functionality, performance, and scalability across design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Design, develop, and operate cloud-native services using containers, microservices, distributed-systems principles, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Drive automated testing, code reviews, operational readiness, continuous improvement, reliability, and security.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term scalability and operational improvements.
• Collaborate with product management, architects, partner teams, and engineering stakeholders; contribute through technical communication, knowledge sharing, design discussions, and mentorship.

Requirements

• Experience with Python for test automation, validation frameworks, tooling, CI/CD integration, or operational automation.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs or service-to-service integrations.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating microservices-based applications using Kubernetes, containers, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience with software quality practices, including automated testing, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational excellence practices.
• Knowledge of building and operating cloud-native distributed systems in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a creative, analytical approach to problem solving.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years of related experience; or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 0+ years of related experience; or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with C, C++, Go, React, TypeScript, or C# for work across existing service components and user-facing workflows.
