Engineer II - Site Reliability, Kubernetes (Remote, EST)

Location: Remote within the United States; EST working hours. CJIS clearance eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or Green Card/permanent resident status.

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year for U.S. candidates, plus bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain large Kubernetes clusters in company data centers and AWS, GCP, and OCI.
• Troubleshoot nodes, pods, networking, DNS, storage, and control-plane issues, escalating complex problems when needed.
• Participate in on-call rotations and resolve incidents with the engineering team.
• Execute cluster and node upgrades, add-on updates, certificate rotation, and capacity changes through the change process.
• Build and tune alerts and dashboards with Prometheus, Thanos, Alertmanager, and Grafana.
• Develop Go or Python tools, use AI tools for troubleshooting and automation, maintain runbooks, and participate in platform design discussions.

Requirements

• Eligibility for CJIS clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship or Green Card/permanent resident status.
• At least 3 years of infrastructure, systems, or platform engineering experience, including at least 2 years running Kubernetes in production.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes workloads, services, networking, ingress, DNS, storage, and RBAC, including troubleshooting with kubectl and logs.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Prometheus, Alertmanager, and Grafana.
• Programming or scripting experience in Go or Python and interest in writing more Go.
• Experience with at least one of AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Helm, or similar tools, and Git.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and experience using AI tools in engineering work.

Nice to have

• Thanos experience and experience with Kubernetes add-ons such as CoreDNS, ingress controllers, CNI plugins, or cert-manager.
• Experience deploying microservices, writing Kubernetes controllers or operators, and working with bare-metal or on-premises infrastructure.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification or similar.
• Experience working with local and remote teams, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for help.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
