Entry Level Controls Design Engineer (PLC)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite five days a week. Relocation is available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $72,360.00–$108,540.00 per year.

What you will do

• Design electrical hardware and control systems for gas turbines, power generators, natural gas compressors, and methane emissions reduction systems.
• Develop electrical schematic drawings and ladder-logic control software for programmable logic controllers.
• Perform software testing using simulation software to understand system operation.
• Coordinate with internal hirify.global organizations, external customers, manufacturing, and up to 10 engineering disciplines.
• Support field personnel during commissioning and resolve safety-critical risk assessments.
• Travel to customer design reviews, HAZOP meetings, and installed-equipment field support.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Entry-level Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering background with interest in electrical equipment design and software programming and testing for electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, quality focus, and the ability to deliver on time.
• Sense of urgency and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and competing priorities.

Nice to have

• Educational or experience-based exposure to electrical equipment design and control software for PLC applications.
• Direct experience programming PLCs and Windows-based HMI systems.
• Knowledge of turbomachinery electrical loop schematics, P&IDs, and control systems.
