Full Stack Developer (Python)

Location: Home based in the UK; occasional travel to UK offices, delivery workshops or stakeholder meetings may be required.

Salary: £56,500–£74,375 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test and maintain full-stack applications across front-end, back-end, services, APIs, integrations, data and cloud infrastructure.
• Build secure APIs, services, integrations and event-driven components for reliable communication and data exchange.
• Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, with Vue where appropriate.
• Design maintainable architectures and data models across relational and NoSQL databases, focusing on performance, scalability, resilience and supportability.
• Apply secure-by-design practices, including secure coding, threat-aware design, automated testing, peer review and vulnerability remediation in line with organisational and NCSC requirements.
• Contribute to Agile delivery and support live applications through monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, optimisation, documentation and operational handover.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial industry experience as a Full Stack Developer, covering front-end and back-end development in Agile delivery teams.
• Experience delivering multiple web and app projects through the full lifecycle, from planning to post-launch support.
• Strong Python development skills, including robust backend services and serverless functions.
• Strong experience with React and TypeScript, plus JavaScript, HTML and CSS; Vue experience is also relevant.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, services, integrations and event-driven architectures.
• Practical experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modelling, querying, performance and operational considerations.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications across application, data and cloud infrastructure layers in a UK-hosted environment.
• Strong understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability and modern software engineering practices.
• Deep understanding of secure-by-design development, secure coding, application security testing, vulnerability management, NCSC principles and UK security requirements across the SDLC.
• AWS or Azure developer certification.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI-enabled services, including document processing or generative AI capabilities such as Textract or Bedrock.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, containerisation or platform automation.
• Knowledge of cloud services for compute, API management, storage, identity and access management.
• Experience in regulated, security-conscious or high-availability environments.
• Relevant software engineering, cloud or security certification.
