Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Data)

Location: Remote in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan; occasional in-person work may be required, including onboarding.

Salary: CAN base pay range of $153,000–$213,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues.
• Maintain the operations and availability of team systems through metrics, escalation, and on-call support.
• Set and improve code review and design standards, and promote quality and ownership through writing and tech talks.
• Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leadership by example.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable code and make significant changes safely in a large codebase using appropriate tools and practices.
• Ownership of professional growth, including proactively seeking feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
