Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer (New Stealth Startup)

Location: Remote (USA); U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $200,000–$350,000 annual base salary + equity.

What you will do

• Architect and scale reinforcement learning environments and the infrastructure supporting data collection at scale.
• Build and operate scalable backend services, APIs, data-generation pipelines, data models, storage systems, and platform integrations.
• Develop modular environments integrated with model training and evaluation workflows.
• Translate research requirements and prototypes into reliable, production-quality systems.
• Build full-stack tools and interfaces for research, engineering, and operational workflows.
• Improve reliability, observability, performance, maintainability, security, developer velocity, and engineering quality while collaborating across Research, Product, Engineering, and Operations.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience building full-stack applications, backend systems, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern backend architecture.
• Strong experience designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, distributed systems, and system design.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating production systems on AWS or GCP.
• Experience developing reliable, observable, and performant production systems.
• Ability to translate research or product requirements into maintainable technical architectures and implementations.
• Strong software engineering practices, including testing, code review, technical documentation, production operations, complex problem-solving, and system diagnosis across the technology stack.
• Effective collaboration across functions and geographies, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with model training, model evaluation, reinforcement learning environments, AI agents, or data-generation systems.
