AI Engineering Team Lead (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based in London, combining office time with the flexibility to work from home.

What you will do

• Own the technical direction, product delivery, and organisational development of an engineering area across Tenant Find, Property Management, Finance, Communication Platform, or Growth.
• Partner with product and operations to define problems, priorities, scope, delivery, and measurable business outcomes.
• Lead LLM and agentic workflows into production, including quality evaluation, observability, human feedback, safe fallbacks, reliability, cost, and reduction of manual work.
• Guide architecture, integrations, data models, legacy migration, and hands-on implementation through production code, complex systems, debugging, and critical code reviews.
• Hire, develop, and manage engineers and future leaders while shaping team boundaries, ownership, standards, and cross-team interfaces.
• Build the team's effective use of coding agents through strong context, automated reviews, testing, verification, and reliable AI system practices.

Requirements

• Experience as a CTO, Senior Engineering Manager, or engineering leader with comparable scope and accountability, owning technical strategy, hiring, people development, and delivery through meaningful growth.
• Demonstrated experience building and scaling strong engineering teams, including hiring, developing leaders, evolving organisational structure, and increasing team autonomy.
• Deep technical credibility designing, shipping, and operating complex production systems, with the ability to challenge architecture and contribute to code.
• Strong product and business judgment connecting engineering priorities to operational efficiency, customer experience, and business economics.
• Strong backend and systems expertise covering APIs, SQL, integrations, and legacy evolution, with hands-on Node.js and TypeScript experience.
• Experience shipping and operating LLM or agentic products in production with measurable business impact, including tool use, orchestration, evaluation, failure modes, and decisions between AI, deterministic software, and human review.
• Active use of coding agents and the ability to improve the team's capability with them.
• High autonomy, comfort with ambiguity, sound decision-making, difficult trade-offs, and cross-team alignment.
