Principal Product Manager, QB Capital (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco or Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $243,000–$328,500 per year in San Francisco. The position may also be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the roadmap for QB Capital’s cash-flow-based lending products while balancing origination growth with loss rates, contribution margin, and funding costs.
• Partner with Risk and Data Science to turn underwriting and pricing strategies into product capabilities covering eligibility, offer generation, limits, and borrower-facing experiences.
• Use QuickBooks accounting and transaction data, portfolio performance, and customer input to identify opportunities across acquisition, eligibility, underwriting, offer design, and servicing.
• Coordinate decisions across Credit/Risk, Data Science, Data Engineering, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Finance, Compliance, and GTM.
• Develop forward-looking credit policy proposals and product bets, quantify opportunities, define success metrics, and build stakeholder alignment.
• Represent QB Capital’s credit strategy to senior stakeholders and influence sequencing of the broader Payments & Capital roadmap.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of product management experience, including direct ownership of a product with real P&L or portfolio-economics accountability, such as cash-flow-based lending or credit cards.
• Ability to connect data and credit thinking to product decisions, including underwriting logic, portfolio metrics, and risk/return trade-offs.
• Strong analytical fluency, including SQL and portfolio or data analysis, with experience building investment business cases.
• Experience operating as a senior individual contributor who sets direction and aligns Risk, Data Science, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance stakeholders without formal authority.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across underwriting mechanics, engineering scoping, and executive-level strategy discussions.
• Experience scaling a lending or financing product through multiple growth stages, including through a credit cycle.

Nice to have

• Credit, lending, or underwriting product experience.
• Experience with SMB or accounting and financial data, including QuickBooks, Xero, bank transaction data, or similar.
• Machine learning or model-driven decisioning fluency, including partnering with Data Science to ship underwriting or pricing models to production.
