Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $202,500–$274,000 per year in Mountain View; cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits may also be available.

What you will do

• Build AI-native platforms and AI-first experiences for enterprise users.
• Develop full-stack user experiences and backend solutions using AI technologies.
• Drive customer, business, and technology outcomes by identifying and advancing key opportunities.
• Design, implement, review, document, debug, and monitor software across the full software development life cycle.
• Collaborate with software engineers, AI engineers, product managers, designers, peer engineers, and architects to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Estimate activities, sequence work, identify dependencies, and contribute to project plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of core development experience.
• Advanced experience with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Stream, Kafka, Kubernetes, GitHub, JUnit 4/5, and Python.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, Aurora PostgreSQL, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Apache Flink or Apache Spark.
• Full-stack development experience with AI technologies and tools, including SageMaker, LangChain, large language models, prompt engineering, DialogFlow, Python, and agentic engineering.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems, SDLC, CI/CD, Agile development teams, and Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with debugging and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Wavefront.
• Experience with data tools and Spark frameworks such as Python, PyTorch, NumPy, and Pandas, plus knowledge of applied AI.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, decision-making, planning, dependency-management, and collaboration skills; ability to explain complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work hands-on through all phases of the software life cycle for 70–85% of the role, conduct design and code reviews, create technical documentation, and embrace the DevOps model.
