Data Center Technician (AI Infrastructure)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States. The role requires physical work with heavy equipment, on-call shifts that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel to various data centers as needed.

Base salary: $70,000–$120,000 per year. Stock options may be offered in addition to base pay.

What you will do

• Install, upgrade, configure, test, and maintain data center racks, servers, switches, routers, monitoring systems, and other networking equipment.
• Monitor, audit, diagnose, maintain, and decommission server and network infrastructure.
• Maintain integration and deployment tooling, inventories, event logs, and data center process records.
• Participate in on-call incident response, root cause analysis, ticket completion, and SLA-driven support for server, network, and hardware issues.
• Install software and firmware updates, replace failed components, repair servers, and coordinate RMA processing with the Logistics Team.
• Perform storage media and Data Bearing Device reconciliation and physical audits, and report suspected security or policy violations.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent practical experience, with knowledge of various Linux distributions.
• 3–5 years of experience in data center environments, operations, IT, or related fields.
• Ability to work long and/or on-call shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to physically lift equipment weighing at least 50 pounds.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot intricate terminal systems, replace failed components, and repair discrete and rack-based servers.
• Knowledge of software and firmware updates, operating systems, and PXE.
• Familiarity with RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, command-line interfaces, boot processes, GRUB/LILO, file systems, and network device and protocol configuration.
• Experience with RMA processing, storage media/Data Bearing Device audits, and coordination with Logistics.
• Flexibility to travel to various data centers and enthusiasm for AI and machine learning.

Nice to have

• CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, or CCNP certification.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, ICMP, SSH, DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS, storage systems, RAID, distributed file systems, NFS, iSCSI, and CIFS.
• Experience with core OS services including SSH, telnet, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
• Experience with the NVIDIA GPU Linux software stack, Chef, GitHub, Docker, Mesosphere/Kubernetes, and QEMU/KVM.
• Experience with Arista, Cisco, or Fortinet network hardware.
