EHS Engineer

Location: On-site in Sunnyvale, California, United States; up to 15% domestic and international travel with overnight stays as required.

Annual salary: $86,000–$110,000, plus eligibility for bonus/incentive pay.

What you will do

• Partner with site leaders and associates to strengthen safety culture, deliver employee safety and environmental training, and coordinate emergency response drills.
• Conduct risk assessments for processes, equipment, and chemicals; develop corrective action plans; support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Implement injury and exposure prevention strategies and support laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials and waste, stormwater, air emissions, contractor safety, and electrical safety programs.
• Manage EHS projects, collaborate with EHS committees and emergency response teams, and support energy and waste reduction initiatives.
• Apply Danaher Business System tools, including daily management, problem solving, standard work, kaizen, visual management, and hazard control, to sustain measurable improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience or a relevant master’s degree with 0+ years of experience.
• Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Ability to solve complex problems, assess risk, and develop practical corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to travel up to 15%, including domestic and international travel with overnight stays as required.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 35 lb., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive arm and wrist motions.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing EHS programs in a laboratory, R&D, or regulated medical device environment.
• Experience with environmental compliance programs covering hazardous materials, stormwater, and sustainability initiatives.
• Experience with Cal/OSHA compliance, industrial hygiene, incident investigations, regulatory audits, and EHS management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
