Data Scientist, Financial Services Consulting (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid position with virtual work and in-person responsibilities at an assigned hirify.global office at least two days per week. Travel approximately 10%–20% based on business needs.

Salary: $67,500–$112,500 annually, plus potential bonus and other incentives according to applicable plans.

What you will do

• Partner with internal and external cross-functional teams to develop business initiatives and value-added analytics products for US financial services customers, including fintechs, credit card issuers, collections agencies, and retail banks.
• Lead client engagements involving descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis across the consumer lending portfolio lifecycle.
• Design and write programs for data extraction, segmentation, and statistical analysis using large population datasets.
• Deliver concise analytical insights and recommendations through presentations for customers, internal stakeholders, and executive audiences.
• Develop project proposals, sales presentations, promotional collateral, and adoption strategies for hirify.global’s analytics products and services.
• Mentor and train junior colleagues while managing initiatives under limited direct supervision.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another highly quantitative field, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
• At least one year of analytical experience in Financial Services or a related industry.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate complex information and develop data-informed solutions.
• Versatile interpersonal and communication skills, including communication across organizational levels and with external stakeholders in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Advanced programming skills and mastery of a statistical programming language such as R or Python.
• Experience with additional programming and data-manipulation languages, including SQL, Hive, C/C++, or Java.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%–20% based on business needs.
