Open-Rank Professor, Engineering

Location: On-site in Austin, Texas, with the Applied Engineering Lab in Bastrop, Texas.

What you will do

• Teach small, rigorous classes across engineering and related lower-division subjects.
• Teach upper-division courses within the faculty member’s area of specialty.
• Mentor students in a variety of engineering-related projects.
• Conduct engineering research or advanced work in technology, including practical and constructive external impact.
• Contribute to the development of the Engineering program and the institution’s innovative higher education model.
• Support hands-on learning involving the design, building, and testing of complex electromechanical systems.

Requirements

• PhD in an engineering discipline; PhDs in physics or chemistry will also be considered.
• Strong teaching ability.
• A record of engineering research or advanced work in technology.
• A multidisciplinary viewpoint and broad interest within the hard sciences.
• Ability to mentor students in a variety of engineering-related projects.
