Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Location: Laredo, Texas, United States; full-time on-campus position with a regular schedule of face-to-face attendance in the workplace.

What you will do

• Teach mathematics to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Maintain an active research agenda and conduct research.
• Publish scholarly manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
• Seek and secure external grant funding.
• Serve on department, college, and university committees.
• Mentor students and support student success.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is required; ABD candidates may be considered but must earn the doctorate before appointment.
• Ability to teach courses that complement or strengthen undergraduate and graduate mathematics programs.
• Regular on-campus, face-to-face attendance is required.

Nice to have

• Coursework in Applied and Computational Mathematics.
• Strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Potential for or prior experience seeking or securing external grant funding.
• Strong desire to work with first-generation students.
