Member of Technical Staff, Finance Data

Location: New York City, San Francisco, US, or remote within the US.

Salary: $264,000–$396,000 base pay annually in San Francisco; compensation may be adjusted based on employee location. Total compensation may also include benefits, equity, and bonus or variable pay.

What you will do

• Design and implement a financial data platform supporting revenue recognition, consumption-based billing, financial reporting, forecasting, and both batch and real-time workloads.
• Build streaming usage and billing pipelines using Kafka and related technologies to support revenue and consumption forecasts.
• Partner with FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Operations, Finance, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to translate reporting, compliance, and forecasting requirements into technical architecture.
• Define standards for financial data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, ETL, warehousing, lineage, auditability, and data integrity using ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and related tools.
• Develop reliable, highly available, fault-tolerant data infrastructure with monitoring, alerting, and incident response, while supporting SOX, SOC 2, audit, and financial reporting requirements.
• Drive architecture and roadmap decisions, evaluate build-versus-buy options for ERP, billing, and revenue tooling, mentor engineers, and collaborate on forecasting, incrementality analysis, and revenue modeling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field, with ownership of production data pipelines end-to-end.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructure in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, including Kafka Streams or Confluent Platform, as well as ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks.
• Experience building pipelines that support financial reporting, revenue recognition, billing, or consumption-based pricing models.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and associated big data services.
• Strong experience in data governance, security, compliance, audit, SOX, or SOC 2, with a rigorous approach to data lineage and accuracy.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to translate financial and accounting requirements into technical architecture and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor teams, drive consensus, and advocate for engineering best practices in high-accountability data environments.

• Familiarity with financial or ERP systems such as NetSuite or Workday, or with billing platforms.
• Industry recognition or notable data engineering contributions, including published work or open-source contributions.
