Senior Accountant, Commercial Accounting (Automotive)

Location: Troy, Michigan; applicants must be permanently authorized to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Apply ASC 606 to vehicle and vehicle-related sales, including performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and principal-versus-agent assessments across sales channels.
• Record and reconcile customer deposits from vehicle orders and preorders, and track vehicle sales, non-manufacturing cost of sales, inventory and preorders for monthly reporting.
• Analyze finished goods vehicle inventory for lower-of-cost-or-net-realizable-value under ASC 330-10.
• Own monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory roll-forwards and product-line profitability reporting.
• Partner with FP&A and other functions on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, audits, disclosures, new product launches and operational changes.
• Build scalable internal controls and processes, develop the vehicle order-to-cash process, and participate in ERP implementation through requirements drafting, UAT and detailed test documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• At least 4 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of ASC 606, including hands-on principal-versus-agent determinations.
• Experience with inventory accounting under ASC 330, including COGS, reserves and physical-count reconciliation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred. Ability to work with IT on integrations and transaction-flow design.
• Advanced Excel skills, a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build processes from scratch in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, initiative and independent thought.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States.

• CPA or CPA candidacy.

• SAP experience.
• Automotive, EV, e-commerce or consumer products experience.
