HPC Field Applications Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX or Minneapolis, MN preferred; remote considered for exceptional candidates. Up to 40% travel, predominantly in North America, with occasional international travel. US citizenship with eligibility to visit US government research facilities is required.

What you will do

• Maintain existing client relationships, develop new contacts, and identify and qualify opportunities across industry, government, and academic markets.
• Initiate, organize, and lead proof-of-concept, benchmarking, and code-porting projects for new business.
• Gather, qualify, document, and communicate customer requirements with product management and engineering teams.
• Conduct performance studies, advise customers on maximizing value from hirify.global technology, and present technical value for different use cases.
• Support sales partners with technical proposals, value propositions, and responses to customer requirements.
• Assess technology risks, provide competitive insights, contribute to sales targets and KPIs, and report activities and plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with significant focus on scientific computing.
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including at least 4 years in the commercial sector. Candidates with fewer years may be considered if their experience is highly relevant and supported by an excellent track record such as publications.
• Practical experience with at least two computing architectures, including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, or vector processors.
• Practical expertise in at least two application areas, such as finite element methods, computational fluid dynamics, molecular dynamics, high-energy or astrophysics, quantum chemistry, weather or climate simulations, or AI training and inference frameworks.
• Experience in at least two industry verticals is strongly desired, including government, academia, finance, oil and gas, manufacturing, telecommunications, engineering, or logistics.
• Strong parallel programming experience with both MPI and OpenMP.
• Strong C/C++ and Fortran background. Fortran experience may be limited, but willingness to learn and expand is required.
• UNIX/Linux and shell programming experience.
• Good presentation and customer-facing soft skills, along with strong technical writing skills for presentations, whitepapers, and blogs.
• US citizenship with eligibility to visit US government research facilities.

Nice to have

• Master's degree or Ph.D. with relevant specialization.
• Python programming experience.
• Examples of peer-reviewed publications.
