Senior Software Engineer (Kotlin/Python)

Location: Hybrid role based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, or in Finland in the Helsinki area or Salo. In the Netherlands, regular in-person collaboration takes place at the Zoetermeer office; in Finland, the software team works primarily remotely with occasional in-person collaboration at the Helsinki or Salo offices. Relocation processes are not supported.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services primarily using Kotlin and Python.
• Build scalable, secure, and highly available services supporting critical healthcare operations.
• Improve platform architecture, performance, reliability, and observability.
• Contribute to the evolution of the service-oriented architecture and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Own software throughout its lifecycle, including development, code review, production monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA Engineers, DevOps specialists, and developers; mentor colleagues and contribute to technical decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend development experience with Kotlin and/or Python.
• Experience designing and building distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with cloud-native development, containerised applications, and modern deployment practices.
• Collaborative, hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, event-driven architectures, or messaging systems.
• Experience in regulated industries.
• Experience operating production systems with a “you build it, you run it” mindset.
