Senior Node.js Engineer

Location: Bitola, Ohrid, or Skopje, North Macedonia; fully remote

What you will do

• Develop and maintain scalable Banking-as-a-Service APIs and event-driven backend services.
• Contribute to architecture, technical design, and secure, reliable solutions.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing, and deployment processes.
• Ensure production reliability through on-call support, incident investigation, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on system integrations.
• Drive technical improvements and share engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Solid experience with AWS serverless services, including Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EventBridge, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Strong understanding of design patterns and software architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform and CDK.
• Experience with TypeScript unit, integration, and system testing.
• Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• English at Upper-Intermediate level or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with monorepo setups such as pnpm workspaces or similar.
• Knowledge of relational databases, including MySQL, and ORMs such as Prisma.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• German language skills.
