Agentic AI Principal

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid. The role focuses on German, Dutch and DACH enterprise clients, with work involving European regulated environments.

What you will do

• Shape and win complex agentic AI pursuits, define propositions and architectures, and advise C-suite stakeholders on business value, ROI, commercial models and delivery risks.
• Lead AI maturity assessments and identify processes for agentisation from discovery through production delivery.
• Design and build production-grade agentic AI systems covering multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, evaluation, observability and enterprise integration.
• Integrate agents with SAP, LIMS, QMS, clinical, MES, PLM, industrial and legacy back-office systems, using MCP and A2A where appropriate.
• Design sovereign, compliant solutions using EU and German sovereign cloud, hybrid or on-premises infrastructure, self-hosted open-weight models, privacy, security and responsible AI controls.
• Set reusable architecture, engineering and governance standards, mentor senior engineers and technical leads, and grow German and Dutch market capability.

Requirements

• Deep modern software engineering expertise and strong Python experience, including testing, CI/CD, observability, maintainability and production reliability.
• Recognised experience architecting and delivering complex GenAI and agentic AI systems at enterprise scale, from discovery through production.
• Deep knowledge of agentic architectures and frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex or equivalent, including tool use, orchestration, memory, multi-agent coordination, MCP and A2A.
• Strong expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation, advanced information retrieval, vector databases and enterprise knowledge integration.
• Experience designing evaluation strategies covering quality, safety, reliability, latency and cost, plus safeguards such as guardrails, red-teaming, observability and secure deployment.
• Significant experience deploying AI on major cloud platforms with containers, orchestration and production-grade infrastructure, including sovereign cloud, hybrid or on-premises environments and self-hosted open-weight models.
• Experience with prompt and context engineering, fine-tuning where appropriate, application-level optimisation and architecture trade-offs across capability, reliability, security, compliance, performance and cost.
• Working knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR and relevant sector requirements, including GxP, GAMP 5, EU MDR/IVDR, EHDS, DORA, NIS2 and BaFin.
• Proven C-suite engagement, consulting, commercial and delivery experience, including complex Data and AI deals of €3M–5M or more, €5M+ deals, and an annual target of €10M+ TCV in Data and AI deals.
• Consultancy or professional-services experience within the last five years, preferably with German, Dutch or DACH enterprise clients, and experience growing a practice, capability or go-to-market asset.
• Proven leadership across multidisciplinary teams, influence without formal authority, stakeholder alignment, ambiguity management and mentoring of senior technical leaders.
• Experience navigating German and Dutch stakeholder structures, including works councils, data protection officers and procurement.
• German at B2 minimum; C1 strongly preferred, with fluent English.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering AI in healthcare or life sciences, including R&D, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing quality or commercial contexts.
• Experience integrating agents with SAP and industrial or manufacturing systems, and working with data product and data platform foundations for AI.
• Dutch language skills for Netherlands-based candidates.
