Trade Back Office Specialist (Energy Trading)

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands. Hybrid working: 40% at the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly; working abroad is permitted with manager approval for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.

Gross annual salary: €71,000–€95,000, including FlexBudget and 8% holiday allowance; a bonus or collective profit sharing may apply depending on the role.

What you will do

• Set up new energy trading contracts and settlements, process and confirm trades, and record related costs and revenues in the financial administration.
• Monitor payments to and from external parties and perform operational compliance activities.
• Oversee end-to-end operational processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete execution.
• Prioritize daily activities, handle ad hoc requests, and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Collaborate with traders, business control, finance, legal, management, and external financial administrators.
• Improve trade and financial processes, systems, work instructions, data quality, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance or a related field with a strong financial component.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping and financial processes.
• Experience in a corporate environment, shared services, and/or energy trading.
• Affinity with large datasets and translating them into effective control processes.
• Knowledge of financial controls and compliance frameworks, such as JSOX.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Currently living in the Netherlands.
• Structured, analytical, accurate, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
