Algorithm Team Lead - Optimization (AI)

What you will do

• Lead data scientists and data engineers building robust, scalable, high-performance data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Design, build, and maintain distributed batch and streaming data-processing workflows.
• Drive data quality, validation, testing, and observability practices.
• Own and evolve the data architecture in alignment with business and product goals.
• Lead architecture decisions, development, deployment, sprint planning, task breakdown, code reviews, and performance feedback.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow the data science engineering team while contributing hands-on to key development tasks.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist and designing and maintaining large-scale data platforms handling hundreds of TBs.
• At least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team of data engineers; people management is required.
• At least 4 years of experience in data science, including strong Python programming, advanced SQL, and data modeling.
• Expertise with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Cloud platform experience; GCP is preferred, with AWS or Azure acceptable.
• Familiarity with Docker.
• Strong communication, mentorship, and collaboration skills.
• BSc or MSc in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform tools including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
• Background working with ML pipelines or data science teams.
• Understanding of data contracts, lineage, and versioning tools.
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience optimizing pipelines and databases for performance and cost.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or GitLab.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data frameworks such as Apache Beam, Spark, or similar.
• Exposure to airline, pricing, or GDS systems.
