Infrastructure Software Engineer (AI Security)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, USA; based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco.

What you will do

• Build and operate cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters supporting production systems and engineering teams.
• Design and develop sandbox management and workload orchestration services, including APIs for allocation, isolation, health monitoring, failure recovery, and resource lifecycle management.
• Improve workload scheduling, autoscaling, capacity management, performance, startup latency, resource utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Strengthen compute security through workload isolation, access controls, network policies, and secure configuration.
• Build observability and operational tooling, debug production issues across service code, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and cloud infrastructure, and implement durable fixes.
• Improve infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and upgrade processes, owning systems from architecture and implementation through deployment and ongoing operation.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating cloud infrastructure and production systems in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or a similar role.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes knowledge, including workload scheduling, networking, resource management, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with deployment architectures such as SaaS, Bring-Your-Own-Cloud, and air-gapped environments.
• Strong software engineering skills in a language such as Go, including designing, building, and maintaining production services.
• Experience developing distributed systems with concurrency, retries, partial failures, and resource lifecycle management.
• Solid understanding of Linux, containers, networking, and cloud security fundamentals, plus experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production observability.
• Ability to reason about tradeoffs between reliability, security, performance, cost, and operational complexity.
• Ownership from design and implementation through deployment and ongoing operation, along with strong communication and the ability to work through ambiguous problems with other engineers.
• Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Deep experience with AWS, EKS, Helm, and Terraform or Pulumi.
• Experience building infrastructure control planes, Kubernetes controllers, operators, or workload orchestration systems.
• Experience with sandboxing, virtualization, or secure execution environments.
• Experience supporting workloads with high concurrency or rapidly changing compute demand.
• Experience building infrastructure for AI platforms, developer tools, or security products.
