Senior Manager, AI Development (R&D)

What you will do

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary R&D team of 20–30 engineers and data scientists across research, experimentation, prototyping, architecture, engineering, deployment, and production.
• Own R&D execution, delivery, team performance, operational health, OKRs, roadmaps, and measurable milestones.
• Research, architect, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems tied to customer value and business outcomes.
• Guide architecture, system design, technology selection, and technical trade-off decisions for enterprise-scale AI solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and architectural approaches for real customer and business problems.
• Partner with Product, Security, Architecture, Platform, and Engineering teams to ensure reliability, scalability, security, performance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in software engineering, AI, data science, or R&D, with progressive technical and leadership responsibility.
• Preferably a Master’s degree, or a strong Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
• Strong R&D experience taking technologies or concepts from research, experimentation, and prototyping through scalable production solutions, including experience within or leading software or AI R&D organizations.
• Proven success leading, scaling, and developing mid-sized multidisciplinary engineering and data science teams, including global high-performing teams.
• Strong software and/or AI architecture experience, including system design, technology selection, and technical trade-off decisions.
• Experience designing or overseeing large-scale, distributed, cloud-native architectures for AI, machine learning, data, or enterprise software platforms.
• Experience managing large-scale software and AI delivery programs from concept and architecture through production, and operating in Agile environments at scale.
• Strong production operations experience focused on availability, reliability, security, performance, and scalability.
• Strong understanding of AI agents, modern AI architectures, end-to-end AI solution delivery, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, and AI deployment platforms.
• Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, security, privacy, and compliance considerations; experience driving cross-functional execution across Engineering, Product, Architecture, Security, and Operations.
• Experience establishing team objectives, performance expectations, career development frameworks, and managing competing priorities, technical dependencies, and resources in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with a data-driven approach and the ability to balance innovation and experimentation with architectural rigor and production readiness.
