Senior Accounting Manager

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid schedule requiring 3–4 days per week in the Chicago office

Base salary: $150,000–$170,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own the general ledger and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including financial statements, supporting schedules, and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
• Manage multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany transactions, eliminations, customer billing, and accounting for multi-year compute contracts.
• Apply technical accounting for revenue recognition under ASC 606, lease classification under ASC 842, fixed assets, debt agreements, equity, payroll, and benefits.
• Oversee expenses, invoices, prepaids, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, automated reconciliations in Rillet, and exception resolution.
• Support debt covenant monitoring, lender reporting, working capital planning, cash management, and treasury account reconciliations.
• Build audit readiness, coordinate tax advisors, optimize financial systems, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and close procedures, including support for the finance-related SOC 2 program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly revenue recognition, lease accounting, fixed assets, and debt.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation.
• Demonstrated ability to build and improve accounting processes in a high-growth environment.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
• Comfort using AI-enabled tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience in a capital-intensive industry such as data centers, cloud infrastructure, telecommunications, or energy.
• Familiarity with modern finance systems, including Rillet, Ramp, Brex, and Rippling.
